On 18th July 2026, Kisubi High Schools along Entebbe Road became a hub of ambition, energy, and discovery as the Annual Secondary Schools Career Fair unfolded. Organized by the Rotary Club of Bwebajja, Rotaract Club of Bwebajja, and Kisubi Schools, the event brought together hundreds of students eager to explore career paths, guided by professionals across diverse industries.
This year’s fair was more than just an event; it was a movement to empower Uganda’s youth, equipping them with knowledge, mentorship, and inspiration to step boldly into their futures.
TOURISM: A GATEWAY TO EXPLORATION
Zazu Africa Safaris proudly facilitated the tourism session, opening students’ eyes to the vast opportunities within the tourism industry. Careers such as tour guiding, travel consultancy, hospitality management, conservation, event planning, and destination marketing were introduced not just as jobs, but as pathways to storytelling and cultural exchange.
Through this session, students also gained product knowledge of Uganda as a destination; learning what sells Uganda to the world, from its breathtaking gorilla and chimpanzee tracking experiences, national parks, game reserves, the legendary Source of the Nile, and cultural heritage sites, to its vibrant traditions and natural wonders.
Equally, they were introduced to the organisations and associations that govern Uganda’s tourism sector, and their distinct roles in shaping the industry:
– Uganda Tourism Board (UTB); marketing Uganda as a premier destination.
– Ministry of Wildlife, Antiquities and Tourism; policy, oversight, and heritage preservation.
– Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA); conservation and management of national parks and reserves.
– Women in Tourism Uganda; empowering female professionals in the sector.
– Girls in Tourism Africa Uganda; inspiring young women to pursue tourism careers.
– Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO); uniting tour operators for standards and advocacy.
– Miss Tourism Uganda; promoting culture and tourism through pageantry and youth engagement.
This holistic exposure gave students a clear picture of how Uganda’s tourism ecosystem operates from frontline guides to governing institutions and how they can contribute to its growth.
A MULTISECTORAL EXPERIENCE
While tourism shone brightly, the Career Fair also featured facilitators from other dynamic sectors:
– Aviation; inspiring future pilots, engineers, and airline professionals.
– Music & Art; nurturing creativity, performance, and cultural expression.
– Fashion & Design; encouraging innovation in style, culture, and entrepreneurship.
– Media; shaping communicators, journalists, and digital storytellers.
– Other fields; from technology to business, each session offered students a glimpse into the possibilities ahead.
This diversity reminded students that career choices are as vast as their dreams, and that Uganda’s future depends on talent across every sector.
EMPOWERING UGANDA’S YOUTH
The Career Fair was not only about career guidance; it was about empowerment. By bridging education with industry, the event reaffirmed the importance of mentorship, exposure, and guidance in preparing students for meaningful careers.
Facilitators encouraged students to embrace curiosity, resilience, and innovation. They highlighted the importance of soft skills, customer service, communication, teamwork, product knowledge, digital marketing and adaptability alongside technical expertise.
Together, the Rotary Club of Bwebajja, Rotaract Club of Bwebajja, Kisubi Schools and Zazu Africa Safaris demonstrated that collaboration can shape future explorers, tourism professionals, experts, and storytellers who will carry Uganda’s heritage into the global spotlight.
